Enroll in Coverage through the ACA Health Insurance marketplace between November 1 and December 12, 2020

AROOSTOOK COUNTY – The Open Enrollment period for health coverage through the Affordable Care Act runs from November 1st through December 15th this year. The Marketplace was designed to provide access to affordable health care to individuals and families without access to health insurance coverage.  Eligibility guidelines for the program include citizenship status, lack of access to other plans and premiums are income based.

Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) is part of the Community Action Navigator Consortium and is a partner in a statewide network of certified Health Insurance Marketplace Navigators. Navigators can provide free individualized assistance to help clients apply for and enroll in coverage through the Marketplace. Navigators are not affiliated with any insurance company and provide fair and unbiased advice to assist the uninsured.  Navigators can help access programs that could lower client’s monthly health premiums and out of pocket costs. Navigators also help clients better understand the available options.

"Health insurance plans in the Marketplace can be very affordable and provide the coverage that local families need," says Stanley Targonski, Health Care Navigator at Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP). Health plans issued for 2021 will have new requirements including benefits for hearing aids, insulin cost sharing cap, changes to behavioral health coverage, as well coverage for reproductive health. We encourage anyone without health insurance to contact us to schedule an appointment for free assistance by contacting Stan at stargonski@acap-me.org or 207-554-4158.
