A large increase in individuals and families seeking assistance who are experiencing crisis, homelessness or housing insecure, and turning to the Aroostook County Action Program for help, has prompted The County’s most comprehensive social service agency to launch a new service.

Head Start programs in the region have been awarded $11 million in federal funding. Programs in Aroostook, Penobscot, and Kennebec counties will share in the money.

Pre-Kindergarten students from Aroostook County Action Program’s Gouldville Early Care and Education Center recently celebrated their academic accomplishments alongside their families and teachers during a special, fun-filled day.

United Way of Aroostook hosted its annual meeting on June 6 with a breakfast held at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Campus Center.
